Sunday School

At Christ Church we believe that Bible Study and Christian fellowship are essential to the life and ministry of our entire congregation. One means by which we provide this opportunity is through Sunday School. Each Sunday morning, at 10:10, there are groups for every age and interest from pre-school through senior adults.

Adult Sunday School Classes:

We have a large variety of adult Sunday School Classes at Christ Church. All of our classes are involved in mission projects, special activities and social events throughout the year. They strive to build a sense of community among their class members as well as to reach out to new members. Classes vary as to size and format. We encourage visitation of the various classes in order to choose which one best meets your needs.

Cana Singles and married couples, many of whom are parents of children from elementary-school age to college age, share in fellowship, study, and worship of Jesus Christ. We laugh, cry, share the love of God, and enjoy refreshments during our time together each week, as well as get together
for outside social activities, such as picnics, dinners out, ball games, and mission projects. Study is on a scripture-based theme, which is led by various church members. We are a friendly group who genuinely cares for one another and welcomes others to share in our Christian walk together.

Christian
Homebuilders
Designed to meet the needs of families working in and outside of the home to provide for our children and loved ones, this class strives to gain a greater understanding of what it means to be a Christian in this complicated world. Discussions, which are led by church members, church staff members, and members of the class, can be controversial or comforting. Average class size is 30 - 40, and attendees have children ranging in age from infancy to young adulthood. 253
Covenant Focused on Bible Study, this class, taught by Karen Lawrence, Keith Hedrick, and Charlie Cunningham, discusses a specific book of the Bible each quarter. 159
Daily Bread This class for young couples and singles in their 20's and 30's focuses on Bible study. 260
Discovery Class Visitors and new members are encouraged to attend this class for adults of all ages who are new to Christ Church. The class is taught each week by a different church leader, and each class stands on its own, so it's never awkward to drop in for the first time. The class is designed to help newcomers connect to the life, ministry, and people of Christ Church while providing an opportunity for discipleship and growth. 256
Explorers The class is open to all who are interested in exploring the Bible and growing in their Christian faith in a relaxed and informal setting. The class discussion is led by Byron Graham. 251
First Things First Biblical and topical subjects are covered in this class for young, married couples with or without children. Classes are led by class members and guest speakers. 258
Friendship Adults of a broad range of ages, both married and single, make up this class with average attendance of 50. Classes are taught by class members and other church members. 250
Membership Class If you are interested in joining Christ Church United Methodist, we invite you to attend one of our Membership Classes to explore this opportunity and step in your faith journey. The class will meet on the third Sunday of each month from 10:10 to 12:15, typically in the Fellowship Hall. There will be an opportunity to meet each other and some of the pastors on staff, to ask questions, to discuss what it means to be a Christian, to find out more about Christ Church, and to learn what expectations we have of our members. There will be an optional tour of the building following the class. Please contact Leigh Ray at lray@ccum.net or 897-6421x222 for more information or to register for the class.

Sunday Morning Book Group Over the years, this small group has focused on a wide variety of topics, including Christianity in literature, the background and core beliefs of Methodism, and a study of Luke by Ellsworth Kalas. Our hope is to broaden our faith by studying a variety of materials, both biblical and modern. We value each member's beliefs and know that by studying together, we will not only strengthen our own faith in Christ, but also discover a community in this group of Christian believers. 104
Young Couples Class Young couples (dating, engaged, or married without children), join us as we focus on issues related to being a young adult in a busy and sometimes overwhelming world and struggle to find a faith-informed balance in our lives, including relationships, work, school, and home responsibilities. 102
